Nathalia-born contemporary, country and gospel singer Trisha Hicks was in Wunghnu earlier this month for the first stop of her Only In My Dreams tour.
Ms Hicks performed two songs written by local songwriter Eileen Joyce Yates. The concert is named after Ms Yates’ single Only In My Dreams.
‘‘I wrote the song, it’s gone viral all over the world ... it is a very sad song, nearly everyone was crying,’’ Ms Yates said.
‘‘I have been writing for over 34 years. I have always loved music ... a couple of times when someone has died people have said ‘can you write a song for the funeral’; that’s how the song evolved, it’s about losing people you loved.’’
Ms Hicks performed two shows on Sunday, February 3, at the Wunghnu Tavern, which, she said, she dedicated to her father Ned Hicks and sister Denise Scadden who both died earlier this year.
Ms Yates said Ms Hicks had performed many of her songs in the past, with her collection of self-written albums quickly growing to eight during the course of her career.
Ms Yates said the Only In My Dreams tour was an exciting project and she was pleased to see it come to fruition.
‘‘It is a very exciting time for me,’’ she said.
