Edgar, who coached the side's 38-point grand final triumph against Waaia with Tim Bramich, said cashing in on a golden opportunity was the team's driving motivation.
"It does mean a lot, especially because we've been in few grand finals and lost them. We're just trying to even the ledger a little bit." he said.
"Your older blokes that are around in the club all the time, the man hours they put in, they're all volunteers, they don't get paid.
"Blokes like Fred Henderson, they live through these type of moments and live through the games and the players.
"I'm just so happy for them we've been able to achieve it for them. They'll be having a few beers like the rest of us, there is no doubt about that."
On his team's comprehensive display, Edgar said much of its came back to a monstrous pre-season in which it refused to let fading late in games be the reason it would not celebrate success.
"I was pretty nervous going into the game, we actually started pretty well, which was good," he said.
"We just got on top in that last quarter, we just proved the fitness was there.
"They stood up and went again. We spoke about that before the game, just about the challenge of coming up against a quality side like Waaia - they're not just going to hand you the game.
"You've got to push through and keep working hard together and that was the main thing, 22 committed blokes out there."
While video review over a few quiet ales will be required to analyse the game's big moments, unlikely hero Shankus Ryan's magical snap in the final quarter to seal the win will surely be talked about - by Ryan at least - plenty in the coming days, and probably years.
"I'm not too sure what he was doing in the forward line, but once he kicked that goal my nerves just started going away," Edgar said.
"There were some special moments, obviously Lance Oswald just worked hard all day and is just a class player.
"All year that back six has been fantastic. Just with their one-on-ones, they're hardly ever beaten, and our forward attacks really come from that half-back line."
The premiership is Strathmerton's third of the 2010s, an equal-highest mark shared with Rennie and Jerilderie as well as former Picola District league clubs Shepparton East and Tungamah.
