Ali Dastmozd, 41, forced his way into the home he once shared with ex-wife Sahar Seyedi in Melbourne's southeast on October 1, 2020.
He yelled "who is here, where is he" and searched the house until he found Ms Seyedi's new boyfriend, Mohammad Nejad, in her bedroom.
Holding a knife, Dastmozd demanded to know what Mr Nejad was doing at the house: "This is my house. This is my wife."
Mr Nejad ran through the house to the lounge room, with Dastmozd chasing after him.
In front of his and Ms Seyedi's two young children, Dastmozd stabbed Mr Nejad multiple times in the neck, arm and head, repeatedly yelling "I'll kill you."
Mr Nejad was left with permanent nerve damage, including a partially numb face.
Dastmozd, who continues to deny the offending, was found guilty of intentionally causing serious injury and aggravated burglary by a jury in August 2022. He was acquitted of the more serious charge of attempted murder.
He appeared in Melbourne's Supreme Court on Friday where he was jailed for a maximum of 10 years and two months.
Justice Elizabeth Hollingworth said Dastmozd's "blind rage" attack was made more serious as he had exposed his two children to the violence.
"As their father, you should have protected them from harm. Instead, driven by your jealous rage, you exposed them to what must have been an incredibly frightening scene," she said.
"You were clearly stabbing him with the intention of causing significant injuries to him."
Dastmozd must serve a minimum of seven years and two months before he is eligible for parole.
He has already served two years and three months of his sentence.
