The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has forecast the Goulburn Valley will swelter, with the mercury tipped to reach 40°C.
Which calls for a quick glance at Cricket Shepparton's Rule 15: Extreme Weather Conditions.
As stated in the rule book, the board may cancel matches due to extreme weather conditions at its complete discretion.
Cancellation may occur on match day or leading up to the scheduled match.
As per rule 15.2 (a): If according to the BOM at approximately 5 pm on the night before scheduled matches (i.e. a Friday night before scheduled matches on Saturday), the temperature is predicted to reach a maximum of 40°C or higher; C, D & E grade matches shall be cancelled due to Extreme Weather Conditions.
As it stands, the lower grade round four matches are slated to be cancelled.
However, it is a different maximum temperature for A and B-grade matches.
Rule 15.2 (b) states: Where the predicted maximum temperature is at least 42°C the cancellation of matches will include A and B-grade.
But if the BOM updates the forecast to 42°C or above by 11 am on the day of scheduled matches, then the cancellation of matches will include A and B-grades.
● And all Saturday morning junior cricket has been cancelled, along with junior cricket on Friday night.
