It was then Nathan McCarty who inspired the tail end to carry the team to victory. He smashed six boundaries in a 35-delivery 28-run total and was the eighth man out with the match tied on 95 apiece.
Waters and Nick O’Connor were at the crease for the winning runs.
– A 65-run opening stand between Craig Williams and Brett Young started the Rochester C-grade match with Moama in the right vein.
Williams was out for 30 (from 47 deliveries) and Young for 43 (from 67 deliveries, with six boundaries) before Christopher Jennings (19) and Leigh Hartshorne (10) continued the momentum.
Unfortunately, the last four wickets fell for just 20 runs as Rochester was 6-120 at the compulsory closure of the innings.
Moama started in similarly bright fashion with a 51-run opening stand, broken by Hartshorne and followed up by the first of two Leigh Dolby wickets.
Dolby struck in successive overs as Moama was 3-55 before a 41-run fourth wicket stand set up its victory.
Moama lost only four wickets in the run chase, finishing at 4-121 after 21.3 overs.
