Dawn celebrates 70th with night out in Benalla

Local identity Dawn O’Donnell celebrated her 70th birthday at Kim Wah restaurant with family and friends on Wednesday, December 7.

Close friend Anne Manning said many in the Rose City would know Dawn from her 38 years with Coles.

“She retired just recently,” Anne said.

“Dawn is an ex-St James girl who moved into Benalla as a teenager with her family.

“She started her working life at Permewan Wright, which was located where Coles’ car park is now.”

Dawn is loving life in retirement, and with long-time partner in crime Anne, has been travelling the length and breadth of Australia.

“We have not long returned from a trip to WA, (coming home) on the Indian Pacific (railway),” Anne said.

“(I’d like to give) a huge shout-out to Tash from Kim Wah’s who went out of her way to make Dawn’s night memorable.”
