Thursday, November 10:

There was plenty going on in the stableford event with fast, firm conditions to the liking of many.

Trevor Hay won A-grade, with the consistent John Moyle taking out B-grade. Last week’s C-grade winner, Barry Devlin, was aiming at back-to-back titles, but things went pear-shaped when his cart broke down 100 metres up the first hole.

Phil Loft had a blinder to win by the length of the straight. Albie Missen produced another highlight when his second shot found the bottom of the hole for eagle on the par four 11th hole, and Neil Haw had to be told to keep the noise down after knocking one very close to win the super-pin.

A-grade: Trevor Hay (40 points), 1. Andrew Tewhata (38), 2. Adrian Dohnt (38), 3. B-grade: John Moyle (38), 1. Neil Edwards (38), 2. Clyde Hillier (37), 3. C-grade: Phil Loft (43), 1. Neil Moresco (38), 2. Geoff Crossman (37), 3. NTPs: Glenn Rogers, David Cockroft, Bruce Fleming, Clyde Hillier, Gordon Jasch, John Veitch, Steve Morgan, Sean Murphy, Garry Jeffery. Eagle: George O’Sullivan 6 West. Albie Missen 11 West. John Veitch 17 West. Super-pin: Neil Haw.

Pete Durrant won A-grade with Steve Jones shooting under par to take the lead in the championships.

Chris Boxtel won the C-grade nett with Kim Richardson taking the gross.

Lew Whitehead has been in great form of late and won the C-grade nett, and it was great to see Glenn Ogden have the best scratch score in D-grade after a long lay-off due to injury.

Jim Wagstaff almost added to his list of hole-in-ones when he won the super-pin on 16.

Tuesday, November 15:

A two-person ambrose brought out some good scores with big hitters Shane O’Donnell and Luke Young taking the chocolates.

Brian Sharp has taken little time to return to form after recent shoulder surgery and put them to good use to get himself and Graeme over the line for second.

Tom Flinn and Michael de Jager are a dangerous four-ball team and finished in third.

During the past few weeks quite a number of players have been disqualified for submitting an incorrect score.

May I remind players to check carefully with your marker during and at the end of the round and once you agree on the score then submit.

When using cards you must put your own score on the card as well as the player's score and in an ambrose you have to indicate on the card which player's drive you took.
