At last week’s United Hospital Auxiliary State Conference in Sydney, the organisation received the2022 Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO Trophy for the most money raised (gross) for a rural facility with less than 100 beds for the 2021/22 financial year.
Naponda also received certificates of merit for raising more than $50,000 and for raising $500 net per member.
Auxiliary president Brianna Holden said Naponda was “so proud” of the achievement and thanked the community for the ongoing support.
Mrs Holden and Naponda vice president Paige Beriman represented the local hospital auxiliary at the conference.
Also attending was Naponda member Pam Ellerman, in her role as the Murray region’s regional representative.

There are 170 hospital auxiliaries across NSW, but according to Mrs Holden not all could attend the conference.
For her, attending was a chance to learn from those who have been hospital auxiliary members for some time, and to impart some of her own knowledge.
“As one of the newer, young members, it was really lovely to meet the other members and see what they do to raise money,” Mrs Holden said.
“And it was a learning experience to see how they operate.
“Many don’t use Facebook or other social media, so I was also able to share some of my knowledge.”
Naponda’s fundraising activities include a monthly farmers’ market - held the second Saturday of each month in the Deniliquin CBD - as well as other special events.
Proceeds from the Naponda Community Store in Cressy St also contribute to the amount it donates to Deniliquin Hospital to aid in patient care and comfort.
