Mud Dogs nab BBL signing ahead of crucial clash

The SRP Mud Dogs have announced the signing of Melbourne Renegades-listed Brayden Stepien for their final-round clash of the Goulburn Valley Bush Bash League.

Mud Dogs president Peter Holland said Stepien's former White Hills teammate Mitch Winter-Irving had got into the ear of the talented batter, who's been on the Renegades' list for two years but hasn't had a regular run of games.

"It's really exciting and is coincidental, often the Melbourne headliners are taken out by the BBL, but it's our good fortune to be able to get hold of a good player" he said.

"Mitch is good mates with him, I think they had some throwdowns before Christmas but up here it can be a bit of a case of who knows who."

Holland also said Stepien "can hit a ball", which would go down well in the charity aspect of the GVBBL's final round, to be held at Deakin Reserve.

Twenty dollars will be donated to GV Health for each six hit on the day, while other promotions will also happen across the day.

Hurley's Hotel Hounds will play Cobram Panel Works Panthers from 11am while Stepian's Mud Dogs take on the Jarvis Delahey Crushers from 2pm.
