Coming down to the last set, the Peacocks looked to have the day won, leading by four games.
That was until Mel and Karen Pascoe took the court for the Rosellas.
In an unprecedented move, the Rosellas took out the last set six games to love, against Peacocks’ Naomi Bessell and Jenny Holt, pushing their team over the line at the final hurdle.
Congratulations to Rosellas and commiserations to Peacocks but well done to all ladies for an exciting final day of the season.
Section 1 — Rosellas 3/26 def. Peacocks 3/24
The Toucans were the winners of the Elmore section two grand final, convincingly defeating the Magpies by 14 games.
Julie Leahy and Wendy Holmberg were both undefeated for the day and along with Sue Jackel and Fay Kellett, set up a substantial early lead for the Toucans in the first three sets.
The pairing of Robyn Merritt and Wendy Simms was the only duo from team Magpies to take a set off the eventual winners.
Although pushing close, Glennis Carson and Jan Tarr couldn’t find enough to chase down the established lead, and the consistency of the Toucan team was rewarded with the win.
