Back to the Future star James Tolkan dies aged 94
James Tolkan, known for Back to the Future and Top Gun, has died aged 94 after a remarkable acting career spanning decades.
12°CMuz grew up in Redcliffe, Queensland, and carried his easy‑going coastal spirit with him throughout his life.
In his early years he travelled widely, backpacking across Europe while living in London. After returning to Australia, he moved to Sydney, where he was drafted into the Australian Army and served for two years in Singapore. On his return he met Elizabeth, who would become his beloved wife of 50 years.
The couple later moved with their young family to Riverhead, north of Auckland, where they spent six years before returning to Brisbane. They eventually settled on the Central Coast to be closer to family.
Murray was known for his loyal heart and the presence he brought into every room. He valued his family above all else and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
