The 21-year-old attacker has embarked on a journeyman career after becoming an overnight household name following his exploits for Australia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
His performances in the green and gold caught the eye of English Premier League giants Newcastle United, who paid £300,000 (approx. $567k) for his services nearly four years ago.
However, he failed to break into the first-team set-up at St. James’ Park, failing to make a competitive appearance - before eventually signing for Sparta Prague in 2025 via loan spells in Scotland and the Netherlands.
His spell with the Czech side yielded mixed results, with the highlight of his time in Prague coming as he netted his first and only goal in the club’s famous maroon colours in a 3-0 win over Aberdeen in the UEFA Conference League.
Across his only season for the 38-time national champions, he also registered three assists following 33 appearances in all competitions.
Now, the Shepparton-raised winger has joined his fifth club since 2023 as he looks to rediscover the form that made him one of the soccer’s hottest properties just a few years previously.
His temporary switch to Jablonec was announced on August 29 and he will spend the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign with his temporary employers.
The club is one of the Czech First League’s most ambitious outfits, with a fifth-place finish in the league last term having earned them a spot in this year’s UEFA Conference League.
The side in green pulled off one of the greatest results in its history to-date on August 27, dumping 55-time Scottish champions Rangers out of the European competition on penalties in the playoffs.
Having fallen to a 1-0 defeat at Glasgow’s historic Ibrox Stadium the week before, Jablonec drew the aggregate scoreline level in the return leg in Czechia to force a winner-takes-all shootout in front of a home crowd.
Luring five-time Australian international Kuol to Stadion Strelnice represents a major coup for the upwardly-mobile club.
Sparta released a statement to express their gratitude to the striker as he prepared to depart the club on loan.
“Sparta have agreed a season-long loan deal with Jablonec for Garang Kuol, with no purchase option included in the agreement,” they wrote.
“Following Jablonec’s victory over Rangers in the Conference League play-offs, the 21-year-old attacking player will also have the opportunity to feature in European competitions. Garang, all the best!
“Saturday, August 29 marks exactly one year since Garang Kuol became a Sparta player. He joined us at the end of the transfer window from Newcastle United.
“He made his debut immediately after the international break, coming on for the final 20 minutes of the match against Hradec Králové.
“During the past season, the Australian winger of South Sudanese descent made 29 competitive appearances, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
“However, he predominantly featured as a substitute, as has also been the case at the start of the current campaign. He will now look for more regular playing time at Jablonec.”
