Fire near Tatura sparks big emergency response

Five CFA units from Tatura, Merrigum, Mooroopna and North West Mooroopna dealt with the scene, where crews found around 150 tyres burning across a 100m x 5m area, after a burn-off had gotten out of control.

Police were also called to the scene, but it was deemed to be an incident that did not need police involvement other than for traffic direction.

The fire was deemed under control at 7.32pm and safe at 8.19pm.
