Shepparton’s Kim Borger was a late inclusion for the Melbourne Vixens Super Netball derby with the Melbourne Mavericks, and in the limited time she spent on court, it was evident the Bears goaler has still got it.
While the Vixens fell 50-59 against their cross-town rival, Borger’s return left fans crying for more, with the 37-year-old shooting at 100 per cent accuracy inside the goal circle, before swishing a Super Shot - the only from long range for the match - that got the crowd pumping and the Vixens within a three-goal margin.
While the Bears coach would not be a part of a win, speaking to Vixens Media post-game Borger described her joy to return to Super Netball.
“I love being back in the Vixens dress so I was thrilled to get a call from (head coach) Di Honey,” Borger said.
“It was a little bit unexpected but thrilled to be here to be around the girls!
“Thankfully I’ve been around the girls previously because I’ve sort of been in and out a couple of times... it was lovely to the throw the ball around.”
Reflecting on her stunning Super Shot goal, Borger was still buzzing from the moment.
“I’m still pinching myself, I can’t believe it, Di just said to me ‘go out there and play’, so I thought ‘I feel good, I’ll just whack it up and see how I go’ and thankfully it went in,” she said.
