The former Goulburn Valley Sun will don the orange once again albeit a different shade, this time for Dutch outfit FC Volendam.
Kuol’s parent club Newcastle United confirmed his loan move to the Eredivisie side for the 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday morning.
Volendam’s technical director Jasper van Leeuwen was ecstatic to add the 18-year-old talent to his books for the new season.
“Garang has been high on our list for a long time and now it was time for us to find a good solution with Newcastle,” he said.
“He is a very talented attacker who can play in multiple positions and add things to our game.
“Especially his depth and directness to the goal are weapons that we can use well.”
Kuol’s most recent loan spell was somewhat fickle.
He was signed by Newcastle United from Central Coast Mariners in September 2022, landing in Tyneside on January 1, 2023, before being sent out to Scottish Premier League outfit Hearts almost immediately.
The mercurial winger played just 190 minutes of senior football under Robbie Neilson, scoring one goal from eight appearances.
Though he hasn’t yet played or trained with Newcastle United’s first team upon return to the club, he has been in conversation with manager Eddie Howe about his future.
Kuol’s move to Volendam is hoped to bring an improvement on game time for the fiercely-talented youngster.
The Eredivisie ― Netherlands’ top flight ― has proven to be a regular choice for Premier League clubs to send players out on loan and the former Goulburn Valley Sun will look to bring spice and flair to Volendam’s attacking stocks.
Volendam finished 14th out of 18 in the 2022-23 season, with the first game of the new season landing against Vitesse on Saturday.
Van Leeuwen said he was eager to see what Kuol could bring to the table.
“Garang is technically skilled and fast and also has an eye for his fellow players,” he said.
“All in all, we are very happy with his arrival and we look forward to another good development process.”
