The 2004 Athens Olympics team pursuit medallist took to Leading Edge Cycles’ Facebook page to provide an update on his absence as of late - and it showed an exciting insight into Lancaster’s return to the professional scene.
Lancaster attended the Tour Down Under, assisting cyclists with hydration on a motorbike, before a stint in Geelong aiding with the Australian ARA National Team.
“I took on a different role and worked across both the women’s and men’s races,” Lancaster said in his post.
“Long days, big heat, and definitely outside my comfort zone but it was absolutely epic.
“I caught up with old colleagues, plenty of people from the bike industry, and a stack of suppliers who had their latest bikes and gear on show.
“For me, staying connected at the top level means I can bring that knowledge and perspective straight back to Shepparton and show people what the cycling world has to offer.
“I spent most of the week on a motorbike in the race, servicing breakaway riders, dropping back through the bunch, and making sure everyone stayed hydrated.”
With a foothold back in the professional cycling world, Lancaster has returned to Leading Edge Cycling this month with enhanced knowledge of the evolving modern cycling world, up to date with the industry standard.
But the return to the scene “hit home” particularly for Lancaster too, reuniting with his Olympic teammates at the Adelaide-based Tour Down Under.
Lancaster, along with Bradley McGee, Luke Roberts and Graeme Brown, claimed gold in Athens for the team pursuit, a four kilometer race on a cycling velodrome.

“One of the photos I’ve shared really hit home for me, an awesome reminder of where this whole journey started,” Lancaster said.
“It brought back some massive memories of winning Olympic gold in Athens back in 2004 alongside my teammates Luke Roberts, Bradley McGee, Graeme Brown and myself.
“Special moments, special people, and memories that never fade.“
