It will be an action packed day of football and netball in the lead-up to finals, including when the fifth-placed Rams A-grade netballers play top of the ladder Rumba.
It is another tantalising clash in the senior football as the eighth placed Rams play seventh placed Rumba.
The Rams are still a mathematical chance to make the finals in senior football, but a few things would need to go their way.
They would need to win this weekend against Rumba and next week away against Echuca United, make up percentage, and would and also need Numurkah and Rumbalara to remain winless for the rest of the season.
Due to a split round, the Rams had a week off last week following their 134 point loss against ladder-leaders Congupna in their last match.
Rams head coach Gary Parsons said it was good for the team to rejuvenate after a bruising encounter against a quality side.
“It was probably nice for the boys to have a rest after that,” he said.
“They got the jump on us and had a 14 goals to one first half.
“We were a bit better in the second half, with an eight goals to three second half, although they probably took the foot off the pedal, resting a few of their better players.
“I think we showed a bit more as we got the ball and controlled it.
“All in all, hopefully the week off was good for our guys, and they come back fully rested.
“We are looking at hopefully getting around four, five, or six of our blokes back. Blokes like Liam Pitts, Riley Hamilton and Monte Barnes are all potentials to come back after some time out.”
Parsons said the club got to expose a few more thirds players against Congupna.
“Dexter Hardman got his hands on the ball playing well, and Jai Park was again serviceable.
“It bodes well for the future to have had 12 to 13 thirds kids playing across the season.
“It should benefit the team and the club over the next couple of seasons.”
This week against Rumbalara, the Rams will be looking to improve the result from when the two teams last played.
In the round five clash, Rumba won at home by nine points.
“We’re in a position to hopefully finish off with a couple of wins.
“Rumba are a real good running side. They’ve got really quick ball movement, so the key will be to try to turn over the ball early against them and limit our own turnovers.
“You’ve got to almost corral them. It’s hard to stop them once they get further up the ground.
“Last time we played them it was a good match, we had plenty of the ball.
“We probably just clogged it up a bit at the forward end, and our inaccuracy was probably telling in the end, going down by nine points.
“They traditionally play our big ground quite well with their running. We’ll have to be at our best.”
Tomorrow’s home game for is also significant for the Rams, with Ladies Day on from 1pm.
A range of activities are scheduled supporting Can Assist Deniliquin.
“It should be a good day,” Parsons said.
“On Ladies Day, you always get good support.
“Hopefully, we can reward all the effort the ladies put in for the club and bring home a win.”
