Mooroopna Lawn Tennis Club has renewed its faith in 13-year veteran Mark Mills to lead development, while bringing on board his friend and experienced coach Jeremy Quast to co-pilot the program.
Quast makes the move to the GV after a seven-year stint at Horsham, where he nurtured state and national singles and team hopefuls in the Wimmera.
Combined, the duo has about 37 years of experience in the coaching arena, and it’s hoping to channel that into further representative honours for the region’s young players and Mooroopna.
For the incoming Quast, the goal is obvious.
“I’m excited to start the venture and see how we can expand Goulburn Valley tennis,” Quast said.
“(The co-coaching) is starting to showcase that coaches and clubs can always work together to better tennis in the region.
“Because we’re quite good friends, it will work really well.
“My goal is for the Goulburn Valley to be the number one regional team in the state of Victoria; to get them back where they used to be many years ago.”
Mills and Quast will between them provide training almost all week at Mooroopna for players of all ages and abilities, with a mixture of grassroots GV experience and elite-level mentorship set to benefit local talent.
Mills heads Your Advantage Tennis, while Quast leads the Quast Tennis Academy.
