In front of a home crowd at AAMI Park, the kid from Cobram finally made his A-League debut as a professional footballer.
And though it may have only lasted three minutes, it had been a long time coming.
Iannucci, 19, graced the park as a substitute for Melbourne Victory in the 91st minute, replacing Callum McManaman on the wing during a 6-1 thrashing of Western United.
He touched the ball only once, but it was embodied with typical Iannucci flair.
Dropping in to receive a pass from fullback Storm Roux, Iannucci delicately gyrated before spraying a pass which narrowly evaded his overlapping runner storming down the line.
It was a morsel of what the “Moira Shire Messi” has to offer.
Iannucci featured for Victory in the Asian Champions League in December, taking mere minutes to score on debut against Beijing Guoan.
After such an impactful beginning to his Victory career, it seemed this year's A-League season would have been his for the taking.
However, an absence of opportunity at senior level has forced him to be patient.
But it’s something he’s used to.
Three years without a senior appearance at former home Melbourne City cannot have been easy, but the Cobram prodigy has bided his time and kept working.
The fruits of his labour were at their ripest when he was selected for the Young Socceroos in late 2019, and Saturday night's achievement should not be discounted.
Iannucci will have one last crack at getting professional minutes beneath his belt as Melbourne Victory’s season grinds to a halt this Sunday; and it’s a match-up you simply couldn’t write.
Sitting dead last, Victory has nothing to lose by playing the 19-year-old when rival Melbourne City arrives, giving Iannucci a chance to demonstrate what his old club is missing out on.
