The youth girls competition's round 10 held a thrilling encounter between Shepparton United and Shepparton Swans at Kialla Park Recreation Reserve on Sunday.
From the opening ball up to the final siren it was a gripping clash between the two junior sides.
United took the lead early in the first quarter, booting two goals to Swans’ one.
The visitors responded in the second term to tie the scores at 21 apiece at the main break.
Shepparton Swans players then inched their bills ahead by three points at the final change of ends.
However, in a gritty and tight final quarter, United’s class was on show as the host booted the only goal for the term to snatch an exhilarating two-point win, 36-34.
Demons vice-captain Tabatha Ingham was a threat in attack all day, finishing the match with a game-high three goals, while Jarinda Bamblett was awarded best-on-ground.
Swans’ Adau Makuei was named the best for the visitors, while Lara Bush kicked a team-high two majors.
Around the grounds in the youth girls competition, Echuca United handed Moama its first loss of the season thanks to a 23-16 win.
Meanwhile, Barooga toppled Nathalia at home by 16 points.
In the senior league, Rumbalara beat Mansfield on the road by 17 points, Echuca thumped Tatura by 62 and Shepparton United had the bye.
The scores for the contest between Nathalia and Barooga were not available at the time of print.
