Finals are upon us as four teams are left in the under-16 division one race, with Shepparton-Notre Bears, Shepparton United and a pair of Echuca sides set to duke it out for all the marbles over the next three weekends.
And if Sunday’s home and away season closer was anything to go off, we’re in for a pulsating finish.
Shepparton-Notre Bears and Shepparton United played a heart-stopper, the former leading by a point at quarter time before the game was locked up at 14-all by the half.
The Demons fired off a four-goal salvo in the third term.
Shepparton-Notre hit back with three of its own in the fourth.
But the Demons had the last laugh, holding on for a nail-biting 8.5 (53) to 7.7 (49) victory to lock in second-chance for finals.
A battle of the Bombers saw Kyabram lose its grip on finals in the cruellest fashion.
Away to Echuca Murray Bombers, Kyabram was beaten 10.17 (77) to 6.2 (38) and surrendered its spot in the four by three per cent in the process.
Lastly, Echuca Bombers - the club’s other finals-bound side - consolidated its minor premiership with a 10.9 (69) to 3.11 (29) victory over Shepparton Swans.
News photographer Megan Fisher was on hand to snap photos of the Bears-Demons clash.
