Only one Murray Bombers side departed the competition in the first week of finals on Sunday, and it was in an Echuca vs Echuca match-up.
Under-14 division one saw Echuca Bombers and Echuca Green battle at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
Although Bombers had beaten Green by 24 points only seven days earlier, Green turned the tables in a big way in the eliminator, crushing Bomber hopes 11.7 (73) to 3.1 (19).
Arli Walker, who was absent last week, proved a big addition for Green, scoring best-on-ground honours, while Marlon Micalizzi led all scorers with four goals.
Green moves on to a preliminary final this Sunday against Kyabram Bombers, the winner to take on Mooroopna in the grand final.
In under-16 division one, it was a mixed week for the two Echuca outfits, although both sides remain alive.
Echuca Murray Bombers fought through an elimination final against Shepp United Demons, prevailing 12.13 (85) to 7.8 (50).
Alfred Cunningham’s three goals led the way for Echuca.
The side will now face a preliminary final against Echuca Bombers, which was defeated by Shepp Notre Bears in the qualifying semi.
Bombers had a one-point lead at three-quarter time, but Shepparton was able to pull clear in the final quarter to win 10.7 (67) to 8.10 (58).
In under-16 division two, Tongala remained alive in the competition, successfully negotiating an elimination final with Alexandra Rebels.
The Blues' defence was the star of the show in the 6.9 (45) to 0.3 (3) result.
Archer Woods led the way in attack, kicking four goals.
Tongala advances to the preliminary final against Mooroopna for the right to take on Seymour in the decider.
All three preliminary finals featuring local hopes will be held at Tongala Recreation Reserve on Sunday.
The action kicks off with Echuca Green and Kyabram in the under-14 division 1 from 10am followed by under-16 division two, Tongala vs Mooroopna, at 11.30am and division one, Echuca Bombers vs Echuca Murray Bombers at 1.30pm.
