In the case of the Victorian Netball League, it’s a transfer window that has opened - and Goulburn Valley League talents are wasting no time making the most of the opportunity.
Headlining the list of ins and outs is gun Mooroopna defender Dayna Williams, who has moved on from Melbourne University Lightning less than a month after winning the 23-and-under grand final.
Williams will join a stack of GVL stars at Bendigo Strikers, stepping up to the championship level to serve under ex-Shepparton mentor and current Nathalia co-coach Tracey Brereton.
She’s not alone, either.
Recently announced Seymour coach and capped England international Elle McDonald was unveiled as a Strikers recruit for 2026, adding serious firepower to the club’s midcourt stocks.
Alongside the new blood, several local products have re-committed to the Strikers’ cause.
Ex-Rochester goaler Teal Hocking enjoyed a fruitful campaign with the newly minted Bendigo-based VNL franchise in 2025, finishing as runner-up in the club’s MVP vote count.
She pledges her allegiance to the Strikers’ championship squad alongside Shepparton Swans’ Harriet Gall, while Tatura’s Elsie Boyer and Mooroopna’s Asha Gray return to the 23-and-under side for another year.
Around the VNL landscape, Seymour duo Sarah Szczykulski and Ally Black have re-signed at Boroondara Express after a championship campaign that bore a preliminary final berth.
Former Seymour Lion Ella Tennant has moved up the ranks at North East Blaze, elevated from the 23-and-unders to the championship side.
Tatura defender Jasmine Fraser has also re-signed with Western Warriors’ championship squad, while Echuca product Claudia Mawson will return for Melbourne University Lightning in 2026.
