Charlie Boswood and Jacob Cartwright have been selected in Bowls Victoria’s under-18 boys’ state side, and will don the Big V at the Australian under-18 Championships in Tasmania from November 10-13.
The pair recently won the under-18 Tri Series Shield with Victoria last month, featuring in the tournament alongside Moama’s Mackenzie Parsons, who will also suit up at nationals with the girl’s side.
Both Cartwright and Boswood hail from the Kyabram stable, but have gone on to find new homes in the Goulburn Murray Bowls Region.
Cartwright represented Wunghnu in the most recent pennant season, while Boswood crossed over to Shepparton Golf from Port Melbourne during the winter.
The Golfers took out the most recent Goulburn Valley Playing Area Allan Matheson Shield - though this season, there is a notable change among the ranks.
Kyabram has made the jump to the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Bowls Region for the upcoming campaign, with the club previously citing geographical reasons and hefty travel times as to why the Bombers wanted to switch.
It’s a big blow to the GVPA, with Kyabram fielding four weekend and three midweek pennant sides in the 2024-25 season.
But as one door closes, another one opens.
Seymour VRI will fill Kyabram’s spot in division one after earning promotion by clinching the division two premiership last season, while East Shepparton has been saved by the Bombers’ decision to exit the association.
East finished flat bottom of the division one pack in 2024-25 and was set to be relegated, but an unexpected albeit welcomed lifeline fell in the club’s lap during the off-season.
The GVPA weekend pennant fixture has since been released and is slated to start on October 18 while the midweek competition will kick off on October 14.
