Fixture changes - Goulburn Valley League adjusts draw again

Goulburn Valley League clubs will play each other at least once this campaign after the fixture for the remainder of the season was adjusted once more.

Initial changes made during the coronavirus lockdown left a number of quirks in the draw, including clubs not facing all 11 opponents throughout the year.

But that issue has been ironed out with the new fixture, with all clubs taking each other on at least once and every team having eight home games across the 16-round season.

Grand final day remains slated for September 26, while a pair of split rounds also still feature in the draw.

“The reason we looked at it again was that what we had did not see all clubs play each other once and some clubs had less home games than others,” league operations manager Josephine Spencer said.

“Seventy-five per cent of clubs voted in favour of this new fixture, and the feedback about keeping the split rounds was around holidays and events already being booked.”

The first changes to the draw had round eight moved to the end of the home and away season and rounds nine and 10 cancelled.

The new adjustments have what were rounds eight, nine and 10 at the start of the year now moved to rounds 14, 15 and 16 — with the initial round 17 and 18 clashes cancelled.

The under-16 draw has also been updated, with more make-up games to be scheduled in order to ensure all teams play 16 matches.
