A huge day with bat and ball has put Murchison in the box seat to claim an outright win against Mooroopna Blue in Jim McGregor Shield action.

The Cats won the toss and batted but simply could not handle the Meteor bowling attack, which rattled through the line-up for just 33 runs, with no player reaching double figures.

Only two bowlers were needed, with Dylan Rowney (5-15) and Aaron Miller (4-18) getting the job done.

Murchison comfortably picked up first-innings points but pushed on in search of an outright, ending the day at 8-230.

David Marsters (64), Michael Coonerty (48), Luke Twynstra (40) and Rowney (39) all enjoyed plenty of time in the middle as their side took complete control.

● Toolamba also picked up first-innings points by stumps, after bowling Euroa out for 53.

The Magpies were 9-18 at one stage but number-10 bat Lachlan Cooke rescued the side somewhat with 28.

The Taipans raced to 5-143 from 43 overs before declaring and had the Magpies 2-13 in their second dig by stumps.

● Karramomus is also closing in on victory, needing just 27 more runs next Saturday to lock it down against Pine Lodge.

The Lodgers batted first and got a strong start with Travis Knight (37) and Daniel Linton (34) among the runs.

But things fell away quickly and they were skittled for 109, with Jaxon Thomas finishing with the astonishing figures of 7-31.

By stumps, the Bloods were 4-83 with Inder Singh (33) and Andrew Shields (20) steering the ship.

● Nagambie enjoyed itself a big day with willow in hand, scoring 289 against Mooroopna White.

Harley Taylor-Lloyd top-scored with 73, but Tom Barnes (67) and Jarryd Shepherd (62) both also helped build the big total.

Mooroopna was 1-11 by stumps.

● And in a truly dour day of cricket, Tatura managed to make 133 from 78 overs against Numurkah before being bowled out.

Paul Mahoney carried his bat for the Bulldogs with an unbeaten 67, while David Roberts took four wickets for the Blues.
