But the campaigns of both outfits will begin anew ahead of Sunday's elimination final clash at Violet Town Recreation Reserve.
The Lions are certainly ready to roar this weekend too, having lost to the Grasshoppers by 15 points when the sides last met in round 14.
"We've been looking forward to playing them again after losing that game," Stanhope coach Cobey Aynsley said.
"They're a good side with quality players and a quality coach, so we're excited for the challenge.
"We'll try and control what's in front of us, it will take a strong effort to beat them, but that's what you expect in an elimination final."
Aynsley's troops were able to slide into finals action from fifth position on the table, about where he hoped they would be at the beginning of the year.
"At the start of the season we didn't set any real high expectations, or any low ones either, we just wanted to win as many games as possible," he said.
"Obviously finishing (first or second) would have been ideal, but anywhere in that three-to-six range at least gives you a shot."
The Lions will have a full squad at their disposal as well and come into the knockout match on the back of a 221-point win against Longwood thanks to the efforts of the likes of Drew Haebich (nine goals), Braydon Kearns (five), Jono Pearson (four) and Brandon Corish (four).
"We haven't used injury as an excuse all year, you're only as good as your full list I beleive, but we do have a full list available for the first time in a long while which is great," Aynsley said.
"(There's) 26 blokes jumping out of their skins to get out there and have a crack on Sunday."
The Grasshoppers comfortably defeated Shepparton East last round as James Milne (five goals) and Aaron Wood (four) dominated.
