With sixth spot on the ladder still to be finalised and the Lakers and the Redlegs to battle it out for third position, round 17 presents a salivating weekend of netball.
Tallygaroopna (third) will be desperate to replicate its round two victory against the Lakers (fourth) and cling on to the coveted top-three spot.
The Redlegs defeated Nagambie by one goal in that match, however, the reigning premier was without co-coach and gun shooter Bianca Willis.
Since her return in June from a serious ankle injury, Willis has bolstered the attacking end for the Lakers.
Co-coaching with friend and talented defender Sarah Sanderson, Willis spoke to the Seymour Telegraph of her return to the netball court.
“[In] my first game I came back for a quarter,” the goal shooter said.
‘‘I’ve been building up time from that.
“When you’ve had an injury you think about it more.
“You think about the time it’s taken to come back and why you put yourself back out there on the court.’’
This is Willis' first season coaching the A-grade outfit, after herself and Sanderson accepted to take over the role from Abby Misiti.
The classy shooter said there was no hesitation to take over the role last summer and highlighted the toughness of watching on at the start of the season.
“There was no question to be involved — it’s such a friendly environment,” Willis said.
"I decided to do it together with Sarah. We didn’t want to see outsiders come in. We wanted to keep it in the club.
“It’s been quite hard to watch sometimes, but I’ve enjoyed (coaching) more than I thought I would."
Around the league, Shepparton East (seventh) hosts Undera (eighth) in an elimination-like clash that will decide which club's season remains alive.
Merrigum faces a big test to hold on to sixth position when it welcomes Murchison-Toolamba (fifth).
Dookie United will aim to keep its great form going against Avenel, while Lancaster will do battle against Ardmona.
Rounding out the matches, Longwood will be out to clinch its second win when it takes on Rushworth.
