The 64-year-old will finish his tenure with the Titans a year early, with Saturday's home clash against Wests Tigers his last in charge.
Hasler, who has coached 505 NRL games and won two titles at Manly, came to terms with the Titans to vacate the job before 2026, with Cronulla assistant Josh Hannay to take over.
After a 36-30 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday, Hasler said his love for what he does had not diminished.
"I enjoy coaching. It's more than a job - it's a passion," Hasler said.
It's why he was quick to scupper any suggestion he would be taking a sojourn from the coaching life at the end of this year.
"What are you trying to say? Do I look like I need a break?" Hasler said.
"Thank you, but I'm doing just fine."
Gold Coast are in last place but can move off the bottom with a win over the Tigers. They are on 16 points, two behind second-last Newcastle, but with a better for and against.
The Knights travel to Parramatta in the final match of the regular season.
Titans captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui said his side were determined to send Hasler and retiring veteran Kieran Foran out winners.
"We need to fix our game going into next week because it is a big game for us and we want to win," Fa'asuamaleaui said.
"We don't want to finish on the bottom, especially to send Des out on a good note and Foz (Foran) too. They played a big part in the last two years and they show a lot of care and they work very hard.
"We just want to get them a win to send them off the right way."
The Titans fought back from 18-0 down to give the Dolphins a tough contest.
"It was certainly a slow start," Hasler said.
"We were not near our intensity ... but I thought we did really well in applying ourselves and we got back into the game at 18-all and then from there I thought we should have gone on with it.
"In the second half we just let in two pretty easy soft tries.
"We came back again and played enough field position and had enough ball. We probably bombed two tries, one in the corner in the first half and the forward pass in the second half.
"So we had ample opportunity to win that game."
