ELMORE doesn’t want to be just making up the numbers in the Heathcote District Football League in 2021 and it’s clear in its recruiting policy.
The Bloods have signalled their intent to move up the ladder next season following the arrivals of experienced duo Farran Priest and Phil Hubbard from Echuca United.
Elmore coach Dylan Friedberger said Priest – a Morrish Medal winner in 2008 – would add significant class to his side’s on-ball division.
“Farran is a goalkicking midfielder and is that A grade player we've been targeting,” he told Australian Community Media.
“He has also been on Werribee's list in the VFL and is coming off a stellar season with Echuca United last year. He's the ultimate professional who looks after himself really well, so it's great to have him at the club.
“He can also give us another avenue in our forward line whether it's as a lead-up forward or a crumber.”
Friedberger was also full of praise for Hubbard who has overcome several serious knee injuries in his career.
“Phil can play both an inside and outside role in the midfield, but he can also go down back and play that similar role to Luke Hodge in the way he leads, reads the play and intercepts marks,” Friedberger said.
“He's the sort of player who will be able to lift the confidence of our young players and get their tails up with the way he goes about his footy.
“Both Phil and Farran are going to add so much to the group in terms of experience and leadership and really guide the young guys we have coming up like Bailey Boyack, Rhys Holmberg, Mitch Cricelli and Tannar Cerrone.”
