RV rally member races to Campaspe News

Bribie Island's Justin McCarthy stopped in at the Campaspe News office last week to buy a paper and to show off his 1929 Austin Seven Special.

Towing it on a trailer from Queensland to the CMCA rally in Elmore, the first aid volunteer was visiting Rochester on Wednesday, October 16 to view the silos and everything else we have to offer.

Driven by Arthur Waite, the Austin Seven won the first Australian Grand Prix in 1928 at Phillip Island and averaged more than 90km/h.

At the time the race was called the 100 Miles Road Race but is now considered to be the first Australian Grand Prix.
