An unidentifiable make and model of van combusted at a Goulburn Valley service station last week.

Emergency services were called to the vehicle fire in the north-west corner of Mooroopna’s United Service Station on the Midland Hwy after members of the public had noticed smoke coming from the dash at around 10.30pm on Friday, March 7.

Police said onlookers at the scene had unsuccessfully attempted to extinguish the ensuing fire before firefighters arrived, with one person pushing the vehicle as far away from the fuel bowsers in the lot as possible.

Due to the significant risk the fire posed close to flammable substances, police blocked traffic while fire services dealt with the flames.

The News is still waiting for information from the CFA; however, police have said the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
