Sgt Brian Molloy said police spotted a vehicle being driven at 144km/h on the Murray Valley Hwy about 3km north of Nathalia on Friday, October 16.
The 30-year-old woman driver, from NSW, was stopped by police at 7.40pm after patrolling police saw the car being driven towards them at a fast speed.
That section of the highway is a 100km/h zone.
The woman was fined $889 and was disqualified from driving in Victoria for six months.
The incident came after two P-platers were caught by Nathalia police driving at at least 140km/h in September.
One was a 20-year-old Strathmerton man clocked at 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on Walsh’s Bridge South Rd at Mundoona on September 17, and the other was a 20-year-old Picola woman picked up driving at 140km/h on the Murray Valley Hwy about 2km from Nathalia a day earlier.
Sgt Molloy said it was “disappointing” to have yet another driver picked up at such high speeds.
“I can’t make sense on it — why they need to place themselves and others in danger,” he said.
“Excess speeds continue to be a big contributing factor to fatal crashes on our roads.”
Sgt Molloy said all drivers needed to “drive sensibly and comply with the law”.
