Alleged early morning assault leaves man in critical condition

The man was taken to Goulburn Valley Health before being transferred to Royal Melbourne Hospital by road ambulance in a critical condition with upper body injuries.

A Royal Melbourne Hospital spokesperson said at noon on Sunday he remained in a critical condition.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit officers have arrested a 19-year-old man who was assisting police with inquiries on Sunday afternoon.

The police investigation into the alleged assault remains ongoing.
