'You can't have it both ways': Med-Con mask factory sheds staff as governments choose cheaper imports

Shepparton face mask manufacturer Med-Con has shed 90 staff since November, after demand for Australian-made surgical grade masks dropped in favour of importing cheaper products.Med-Con chief executive Steven Csiszar said the Lemnos factory just outside Shepparton produced masks for "everyone" in 2020, "working cleverly" to fit orders from state health departments in around a whopping 60 million mask contract from the Commonwealth Government.
