“We haven't packed up, and we're not packing up,” he said.
“We're not gonna break the kids’ hearts.”
The fair offers a range of rides, from dodgem cars, jumping castles, tea cups and a ferris wheel to a thrilling roller coaster — to get little ones giggling and to give big kids and grown-ups a shot of adrenaline.
“We're sorry that we can't put smiles on the faces of kids and parents,” Mr McCulloch said.
“We'll hang around until we can open.”
Mr McCulloch said he and his team were staying at home in their caravans, as per the public health order, and they were looking forward to turning on the lights and excitement once lockdown lifted.
The Family Fun Fair will be able to open on Friday, July 23, if regional Victoria on Wednesday reverts to the same restrictions that were in place before the snap lockdown.
If restrictions are only partially lifted and amusement park rides are not permitted to operate, as has happened in past lockdowns, the Family Fun Fair will simply wait it out.
Responding to news of the postponement, Goulburn Valley families shared messages of support and sadness on Facebook.
“It sucks for the business setting it up, too,” Vanessa Walley said.
“The time and money lost — it's no small venture setting this all up for it to just be shut down.
“We went past yesterday with all the lights going and it looked awesome, it made us realise all the more how much people are losing out on with these lockdowns!”
“There are going to be a lot of disappointed kids,” Trudy Gleisberg said.
“Looking on the bright side of this, I hope the weather will be better when they reschedule,” Andrea McDonald said.
