This decision, made in consultation with the Department of Health, was announced on Tuesday, September 9.
The notice was issued on Friday, September 5, due to a decline in raw water quality from the Goulburn River and a treatment plant issue.
GVW managing director Steve Capewell said the company acted promptly to rectify the problem, ensuring water quality returned to specified limits.
“Goulburn Valley Water’s priority throughout this event has been to ensure the safety of our customers,” he said.
“Staff have worked professionally and tirelessly to resolve the issue and support customers with alternative water supplies, where needed.”
Following the incident, flushing of the reticulation system began on Saturday and continued until Tuesday morning.
Treated water was tested, and results confirmed it met critical safety parameters.
After verifying results, the decision was made to lift the notice.
Dr Capewell thanked the community for their support and understanding during the incident.
