Stanhope mobile users face outage

Stanhope Telstra users will lose service for up to four days while upgrades take place.

Some Stanhope mobile users will be going offline for up to four days as Telstra upgrades the nearby mobile base station.

The five-day upgrade works, starting Monday, May 25, will bring 4G and 5G services to the Telstra users in the region, boosting network capacity, downloads, streaming and reducing network congestion.

The upgrades will mean the site will be switched off for up to 96 hours.

Telstra regional engagement manager Adrienne Holobowski said while the disruption was unavoidable, Telstra would only turn off the site when it was necessary and would have it back online “as quickly as possible”.

The upgrade will not affect NBN internet, satellite services, landline phones or mobile coverage from other telecommunications providers.

Emergency Triple Zero calls from Telstra mobiles will automatically connect through other available networks during the outage, ensuring continued access to emergency services.

Telstra mobile customers in the region will receive a text message advising of the work.

Telstra advises business owners to speak with their bank about connecting EFTPOS terminals to NBN or wi-fi to prevent transaction disruptions.
