The Greater Shepparton Basketball Association’s committee of management has agreed to resign, paving the way for Basketball Victoria to assume governance of the organisation.
The decision follows GSBA’s request for BV to step in to stabilise its operations.
In a statement, BV said it would assume control of the association shortly and work with GSBA staff, members, volunteers, Greater Shepparton City Council and the broader basketball community.
It said the decision to assume governance and operational control was not related to GSBA’s financial performance.
BV general manager members, participation and growth David Huxtable told The News supporting the local basketball community remained the immediate priority.
“Our focus is on ensuring basketball continues across Greater Shepparton, with programs and competitions well supported, while providing the stability and governance support the association needs,” Mr Huxtable said.
“We will work closely with everyone involved to strengthen GSBA and position it for a successful and sustainable future that benefits the entire basketball community.”
