The club is still waiting for Maritime NSW to release a review of the sport, which had not been made public as of December 18.
The club expects the report to bring many changes, and Ski Racing Australia will need time to implement them and formulate a return-to-racing plan.
With only three months left before the planned date, there is not enough time to arrange the Southern 80 for 2026.
Club members will look to plan the Beehag 100 event for 2026 to return ski racing to the Murray River.
‘’We understand that this news may be disappointing to many of you, and we share in your frustration,’’ the club said in a statement.
‘’We want to express our deepest gratitude for your continued support and passion for the sport.
‘’Despite this setback, we are committed to returning to the water stronger and more prepared.’’
The Moama Water Sports Club has made the difficult decision to shelve the Southern 80 for 2026.
