This is the framework that Soroptimist International of Shepparton used to host a successful Giant Charity Garage Sale — and what a success it was.
From Easter Tuesday, April 22, until Saturday, May 3, shoppers flocked to 7999 Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla, eager to uncover the items that sang from the packed donations.
Amid the lines of floating clothes, an array of books, and furniture begging to make itself at home, the Soroptimist women and their Soroptimisters — husbands and sons who lent a helping hand — put their sales skills to the test.
Undoubtedly, they passed, as a jaw-dropping $24,000 was raised, making it the largest and most successful sale in the event’s history.
The opening day alone set a record, with an impressive $6500 collected.
All proceeds will be reinvested back into the community to support various initiatives aimed at helping women and girls.
What comes after redistribution?
A well-deserved rest, the Soroptimists said.
