Share your thoughts on red bin collection

Greater Shepparton locals are encouraged to share their thoughts on the fortnightly collection of the landfill-destined bin with a new survey.

The red-lidded waste bin saw changes to its kerbside collection service last year with an aim to divert 80 per cent of waste from landfill by 2030.

The collection of the bins was shifted to a fortnightly schedule to reduce food waste going to landfill. As a result, community waste and recycling habits have significantly improved.

At Greater Shepparton City Council’s May meeting, it was decided to seek community feedback on the fortnightly collection. An online survey is available until Sunday, June 23 at midnight.

The survey can be completed online at Shaping Greater Shepparton website.

The survey includes questions about residents’ landfill bin usage, waste priorities and thoughts on the kerbside collection service.

Hard-copy surveys are available from the council’s customer service counter at 90 Welsford St, Shepparton.

A report with officer recommendations will be presented at the July council meeting.
