A Celebration Day at Federation Square in Melbourne on Sunday, October 2, kicked off festivities.
This year’s festival will see a range of in-person and online events take place across the state throughout October.
Festival-goers will enjoy concerts, dances, sport, the arts, history talks, and tours delivered by Victoria’s 79 local councils and various businesses, community and cultural organisations.
This year’s festival theme — Takin’ it easy — focuses on presenting accessible and comfortable spaces, both in-person and online, to ensure Victorian seniors feel relaxed to participate and ease back into events.
There will be several events in local area including:
- Come and try croquet day: at Numurkah Croquet Club, 178a Melville St, Numurkah, from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday, October 4. Seniors of all skill levels are invited to enjoy a morning learning the game of croquet from club members;
- Special morning tea at Numurkah Senior Citizen’s Hub, 38 McCaskill St, Numurkah, on Friday, October 7, from 10am. Sing along with live entertainment. Free event but booking is essential on 5862 1019;
- Trivia competition at the Cobram Senior Citizen’s Club, 3 Hay Ave, Cobram, on Thursday, October 13, from 2.30pm. Free event but booking essential on 0428 711 408; and
- Seniors golf tournament at the Numurkah Golf and Bowls Club, Tunnock Rd, Numurkah, on Thursday, October 13, and Friday, October 14, from 10am each day. Numurkah Golf and Bowls Club is bringing back its seniors two-day golf event for 2022 for men and women who have a current Golf Australia handicap.

Building on the success of previous years, the festival will include online and radio programs as well as First Nations performances and entertainment from multicultural artists.
The country concert series will take the festival fun on the road to 26 regional towns bringing live music to every corner of the state.
The Aged Care Tour also returns for another year of fun, entertaining aged care residents with music performances and magicians from September through to December.
The in-person celebration continues with the annual Victorian Senior of the Year Awards which will be celebrated at the end of October and will champion and recognise the volunteer work and community contributions of older Victorians.
To ensure attendees can make the most of the festival, Victorian Seniors Card holders can access free travel on public transport services from Sunday, October 2 to Sunday, October 9, including V/Line services.

The Victorian Seniors Festival has been boosted with an extra $400,000 in funding this year.
It is an integral part of the Victorian Government’s support of older Victorians by empowering them to connect, socialise and further their wellbeing.
