The Employment and Vocational Training Scholarship will provide financial assistance to help remove barriers for young learners accessing training and employment pathways.
The support covers various expenses, including course fees, tools, travel costs and equipment.
“Our community is full of talented, motivated young people who just need a bit of help to get started,” GMLLEN executive officer Bec Costa-Lowe said.
“By working with Greater Shepparton Foundation, we can leverage off the existing Lift Off Scholarship framework to reach more individuals and provide support that genuinely changes lives.”
The initiative has financial backing from community partners Rotary Club of Shepparton Central and Soroptimist International Shepparton, addressing the region’s growing demand for skilled workers.
Soroptimist International Shepparton president Katrina Mooney emphasised the group’s commitment to supporting women in traditionally male-dominated industries.
“We believe women belong in every industry — including the ones with steel cap boots and tool belts,” she said.
For young people who are undertaking an apprenticeship, vocational training pathway or short course, and need financial support, visit greatershepparton.foundation/scholarships to read the guidelines and apply.
Applications close October 12.
