Current members and four Come N Try riders attended the day consisting of games, pole work and showjumping.
Breaking for a scrumptious lunch in front of the fire, we received an update from the recent committee meeting.
We moved out to the showjumping arena after lunch to higher jumps for the afternoon session.
Coaches Ash Slavich and Kate Osborne showed the riders a fabulous time, the music pumped across the arenas, while riders participated in Simon Says and other great games to work on the combinations (horse and rider), balance, steering and braking skills.
The second group of riders completed poles and jumping instruction, riders swapping activities after an hour and a quarter session.
The 2026-27 membership year begins with the club’s first rally on July 5 at its Kialla grounds, just behind the Shepparton Harness Racing Club.
There are a variety of memberships available — junior under 17 years from January 1, senior 18-25 years and adult riders 25-80 years, these memberships are $304.54 for the year.
The Ready 2 Ride membership is $244.54, and is for riders up to the age of 10 years, who would participate in the first two sessions before lunch.
A Come & Try membership gives new members the opportunity to come and join in a rally to see if the club is suitable before joining for a full year. It is $20 and allows two rally attendances.
The Shepparton and District Horse and Pony Club’s new membership year is filled with fun rallies, competitions and social events incorporating the club’s fund raisers.
Kicking off with the July rally on Sunday, July 5; Bunnings sausage sizzle on July 11 and a working bee on July 25 and 26, which includes a sleepover, bonfire and a fun Sunday ride together.
The club’s Winter Woolies Show is on Sunday, August 30.
The state qualifying dressage and show jumping competitions are being held over the weekend of October 17 and 18 and a trivia night is also planned at a later date.
