The two-million-dollar renewal has taken over High St since the October 2023, in a six-stage construction schedule focusing on renewing the footpaths, curbs and road pavement down the west and east sides of the main street.
Construction was initially estimated to be completed in March 2024; however, the works were delayed due to weather and contractor availability.
Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Amos, thanked the Rushworth community for their understanding throughout the seven-month construction period.
“The works on High St are basically complete…The streetscape compliments the historic beauty of Rushworth effortlessly and will serve the community through their monthly markets and renowned Easter Heritage Festival,” Cr Amos said.
“It’s been a big project, broken up into stages to minimise impacts on the community.
“I’m really thankful and proud of the community for their understanding throughout the works.”
Cr Amos said that a second road seal will be applied later in the year or early 2025 to “fully finish the project,” and that residents will be updated on further works.
Footpaths, curbs and road pavement on the east and west sides of High St were the main cause of concern in the project.

Waranga Ward Councillor Adrian Weston thanked Rushworth residents for their patience during the streetscape project.
“It’s wonderful to see the streetscape on High St completed,” Cr Weston said.
“We appreciate the community’s support and patience through the entire duration of works in Rushworth.”
Mr Weston said that there are many other developments and projects for Rushworth residents to look forward to including the Rushworth Murchison Rail Trail project, and new amenities at Lions Park.
“Residents can also look forward to the new amenities at Lions Park, which are now also open. Just outside the amenities, the gravel will be repaved to include disabled parking and lighting in the works,” he said.
“The Rushworth Murchison Rail Trail project has also started, with works expected to be completed later this year.”
The next project for Campaspe Council in Rushworth is the Rushworth Murchison Rail Trail project which is now well and truly under way.
