Rotary changeover promises more fundraising success

Catriona Jarman has accepted the chain of office as the incoming president of Seymour Rotary Club during a luncheon on Saturday, June 25.

Four members and friends of Rotary were also awarded Paul Harris fellowships during the lunch at the RSL Hall in Seymour.

Ms Jarman assumes the presidency from outgoing president Kathy Mills, with Rotary’s 2022-23 year theme being “Imagine Rotary”.

The theme will see Rotary clubs work on the seven areas of focus, including youth, literacy, the environment and clean water.

For he’s a jolly good fellow: Alan Walton is named a Paul Harris Fellow for service to Rotary by outgoing president Kathy Mills.

Ms Jarman said she expected the club to build on its successful 2021-22, which saw it raise more than $30,000 for worthy causes.

“We’ve been able to donate that back into our community and to some national and international projects,” she said.

“The fact that we raised over $30,000 to donate to the local and international community given in a large part we were in lockdown is quite an achievement”.

The Rotary Club of Seymour donated funds to flood relief, mental health services, the Royal Children’s Hospital, local schools, the Rotary Indigenous scholarship, local emergency services, Guides and Scouts and community radio.
