The Ready2Ride Program has been developed by Pony Club Victoria for riders aged 10 years and under.
It is a tailored program of fun games and creative lessons for beginner riders, with sessions monthly on the second Sunday of each month, beginning on February 14.
'Rookies’ learn basic riding skills, sound horse mastership skills and how to care for their ponies.
Bunbartha Pony Club coach Lyn Hughes said the program was cheaper than a regular membership at $94 a year.
“An achievement certificate, badge and milestone awards are included in the membership fee,” she said.
“Riders are taught at the pony club by accredited coaches in a safe enclosed sand covered arena.
“As rider’s skills improve, rookies can progress up to the young riders’ group lessons by upgrading to a junior membership at any time”.
“The club also welcomes riders of all ages to learn and develop their horse-riding skills, in a relaxed bush setting.
She said the club's large dressage area, polocrosse field and show jumping area provided plenty of space and opportunities.
“Bring your pony and join us for a ‘come and try’ rally to learn more about our friendly club,” Ms Hughes said.
Rallies are held at the Kaarimba Racing and Recreation Reserve at 3192 Barmah-Shepparton Rd, Kaarimba.
