A police car was allegedly rammed at Euroa on Wednesday, January 3.
Seymour police had been told a grey Toyota Hilux dual-cab utility was spotted allegedly driving north on the wrong side of the road in the southbound lanes on the Hume Fwy between Avenel and Euroa between 8pm and 8.30pm.
Investigators believe the Toyota was travelling in the wrong lanes for about 25km.
Police said officers safely intercepted the Toyota, before exiting the police car to speak with the driver.
Police allege the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle then reversed into the police car, causing significant damage, before fleeing northbound on the freeway.
No-one was injured.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the Toyota on the Hume Fwy between Avenel and Euroa to come forward.
Investigators are also interested in anyone with information or footage of the Toyota following the collision.
