RFS Mid-Murray Zone district assistant Martyn Currey said crews were called to the fire and responded around 7.10pm with a prompt response from all brigades that attended.
“The cause of the fire was a pelican that had flown into powerlines,” Mr Currey said.
The fire was about 5km north of Mathoura off Leetham Rd, west of the Cobb Hwy.
“The area burnt was mostly crop stubble with a couple of trees and one power pole that was damaged.
“We thank everyone who attended the fire both RFS members and local community members,” Mr Currey said.
The fire is under control, with crews patrolling to ensure the area is made safe and to prevent re-ignition.
